I'm Joseph Bravo, a 72-year-old retired Jewish theology scholar living in Lima, Peru. I taught here during the Shining Path's guerrilla war. The poverty I witnessed fueled my lifelong passion for social justice and standing with the oppressed. But it's the warmth, love, and resilience of the Peruvian people that truly won me over!

My blog, www.jabravo.blog, is independent and not affiliated with any organization.

Our intent is to introduce our readers to the modernity of the Hebrew Bible and its relevance to the challenges of contemporary life. We explore aspects such as anthropology, modern ethics, political theory, LGBT issues, meditation, and the practice of reading biblical texts.

Our guiding principle is that everything human is of concern to the Sinaitic revelation.

Quick Bio: Born in France in '53, my parents were Spanish refugees who opposed Franco. My family is from Andalucía, Spain. I'm a citizen of France, Belgium, and the US. Spanish was my first language, but I consider myself Peruvian at heart!
